Adjusting Text Size

How to increase text size and icon size on Android for a senior parent — using Inglenook's settings and Android's accessibility controls.

Inglenook’s text scales with Android’s system text size setting. Making text larger in Android will make it larger throughout Inglenook too.

Changing the text size

  1. Tap the gear icon to open Inglenook Settings.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Tap Change system text size.
  4. Android’s Accessibility Settings will open — adjust the Font size slider to your preferred size, then press the home button to return and see changes take effect.

Why text size matters for older adults

Many seniors find standard Android text too small to read comfortably. Making text larger is one of the most effective single changes you can make — it reduces the risk of tapping the wrong item and makes the whole phone feel less intimidating. Inglenook is designed to remain usable and clear at any text size, including Android’s “Largest” setting.
