First-Time Setup Walkthrough
A step-by-step guide to personalising Inglenook after installation — adding favourite apps and setting up family contacts.
Once Inglenook is installed and set as the default home screen, spend a few minutes personalising it. The goal is a home screen that has exactly what your parent needs — nothing more.
Open Settings
Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Inglenook screen to open Settings.
Add favourite apps
- In Settings, tap Apps.
- Tap Add app and browse the list of installed apps.
- Tap an app to add it to the home screen.
- Repeat for up to six apps in total.
Start with the essentials: Phone, Messages, Camera, and any apps your parent uses regularly.
Add family contacts
- In Settings, tap Contacts.
- Tap Add contact — Inglenook will ask permission to access the phone’s contacts.
- Search for and tap a contact to add them.
- Repeat for up to five contacts.
Family contacts appear at the bottom of the home screen. Tapping a contact lets your parent call or message them directly.
Choose a display style (optional)
In Settings, tap Display to adjust:
- App grid — 2 or 3 columns of app tiles
- Appearance — Light, Dark, or System (follows the phone’s theme)
- Background — Solid colour or the phone’s wallpaper
The defaults work well for most people, so feel free to skip this step for now.
You’re done
Hand the phone back to your parent. The home screen will show their favourite apps and family contacts, with nothing else in the way.
