Setting Up Family Contacts
How to add family members and close friends to the Inglenook contacts strip so your parent can call or message them in two taps.
The contacts strip at the bottom of the Inglenook screen gives your parent one-tap access to the people they call most. You can add up to five contacts.
Adding a contact
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Tap Contacts.
- Tap Add contact.
- If prompted, allow Inglenook to access the phone’s contacts.
- Search for the person by name and tap them to add.
They’ll appear in the contacts strip on the home screen, showing their photo (or initials if no photo is set) and name.
Removing a contact
- Open Settings → Contacts.
- Find the contact and tap Remove.
This removes them from the Inglenook screen only — their details stay in the phone’s contacts app.
Setting up messaging
By default, tapping a contact shows a Call button. A Message button will also appear once you choose a messaging app:
- Open Settings → Contacts.
- Tap Messaging app.
- Select the app your parent uses for messages (e.g. Messages, WhatsApp).
After this, tapping a contact will offer both calling and messaging options. See Making Phone Calls and Sending Messages for full details.
If a contact’s photo isn’t showing, see Contact Photos Not Showing.
