Making Phone Calls and Sending Messages

How your parent can call or message family members directly from the Inglenook screen.

Inglenook makes it easy to call or message the people who matter most — without navigating through contacts lists or dialler apps.

Calling a contact

  1. Tap a contact tile at the bottom of the home screen.
  2. A panel slides up showing the contact’s name and photo.
  3. Tap Call.

The call starts immediately. The first time this is used, Android will ask permission to make phone calls — tap Allow.

Sending a message

The Message button only appears once a messaging app has been set up in Settings. If you don’t see it:

  1. Open Settings → ContactsMessaging app.
  2. Select the app your parent uses (e.g. Messages, WhatsApp).

Once configured:

  1. Tap a contact tile on the home screen.
  2. Tap Message.
  3. The messaging app opens with that contact ready to message.

What if the phone app isn’t set up?

If your parent needs to call someone not in their Inglenook contacts, they can use the Phone app. Add it to the home screen as a favourite app — see Adding and Removing Favourite Apps.
