Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about Inglenook.
Does Inglenook replace the apps on the phone?
No. Inglenook only changes the home screen — the screen you see when you press the home button. All the existing apps are still installed and can be accessed through Inglenook’s app grid or through the phone’s Settings.
Will my parent be able to access their original home screen?
Not directly, by design. Inglenook replaces the home screen to keep things simple. If needed, a carer or family member can switch back to the original home screen through Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Home app. See Switching Back to the Original Home App.
Does Inglenook collect any personal data?
No. Inglenook stores everything — favourite apps, contacts, and preferences — on the phone itself. Nothing is sent to external servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can my parent accidentally change the settings?
Settings are accessible via the gear icon in the top-right corner. There is no passcode protection on the settings at this time. If this is a concern, consider placing the phone in a cover that covers the top-right corner when not being supervised.
How many apps and contacts can I add?
- Up to six favourite apps
- Up to five family contacts
Does Inglenook work on all Android phones?
Inglenook requires Android 8.0 or later. Most Android phones from 2018 onwards are compatible.
My parent accidentally opened Settings. How do I get back to the home screen?
Press the phone’s home button. This closes Settings and returns to the Inglenook screen.
Can I use Inglenook on a tablet?
Inglenook is designed for phones and is displayed in portrait orientation. It may work on some tablets, but the layout is optimised for phone screens.
Is Inglenook free?
Yes, Inglenook is free to download and use from the Google Play Store.
